Synthesis and crystal structure of tetranuclear platinum(II) complex [Pt4(μ-CH3COO)5(μ-NO)2(μ-NO2)]

Abstract

A new tetranuclear complex [Pt4(μ-CH3COO)5(μ-NO)5(μ-NO)2(μ-NO2)]is synthesized by the reaction of K2Pt(NO2)4 with glacial acetic acid and studied by IR and electronic absorption spectroscopy. Its structure is determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The metal core of the complex is a rectangle with short (2.937(1) Å) and long (3.289(1) Å) sides. Adjacent molecules in a crystal are bonded by weak Pt…Pt interactions (3.215(1) Å) to form chains extended along the crystallographic axis b.
