A Description of the Lanternfish larva Lampanyctus indicus (Pisces: Myctophidae) from the Western Indian Ocean

Abstract

Illustrated description of the postlarval stage of development of Lampanyctus indicus from the Indian Ocean is given for the first time; it differs from the other Lampanyctus larvae mainly in pigmentation. The problems of identifying of the early development stage of this taxa are considered.
