Fish population in specially protected areas of the Republic of Karelia

Abstract

Data are presented on the structure of fish population in waterbodies in specially protected areas of Karelia: in two state reserves (Kivach and Kostomuksha), in three national parks (Paanajarvi, Kalevala, and Vodlozersky), and in two landscape reserves (Tolvoyarvi and Tulos). It is demonstrated that ecosystems that are stable and weakly subjected to any affect have high biological diversity and serve for preservation of the genepool.
