Abstract—

The punctae of the shell of the brachiopod genus Syringothyris Winchell, 1863 (order Spiriferida) are described and association of the punctae and the fibrous secondary layer is characterized. The taxonomic significance of the punctae and systematic position of the genus Syringothyris are discussed.
