Abstract

Representatives of the genera Ceratostreon Bayle, 1878, Pseudogyra Mirkamalov, 1971 and Costagyra Vialov, 1936 (Gryphaeidae, Exogyrinae) from the Aptian and Albian of the southwestern spurs of the Gissar Ridge are revised. In the Aptian and Albian, the genus Ceratostreon is represented by the species C. trigonalis (Mirkamalov), the genus Pseudogyra is represented by the species Pseudogyra pennata Mirkamalov, and the genus Costagyra is represented by the species C. luppovi (Mirkamalov).

Notes

  1. Exogyroid (=alivincular-exogyroid) type of ligament area is a type of ligament in which the resilifer and the anterior bourrelet are run together, and the posterior bourrelet is reduced to a narrow ridge, with the length axis of the ligament area being almost parallel to the hinge axis (Malchus, 1990, fig. 25d; Carter et al., 2012). Some representatives of the subfamily Exogyrinae are characterized by straightening of the exogyroid ligament area at the late stages of ontogeny.
