Abstract

A new bivalve species C. (Crassatella) lassa is described from the Upper Eocene sediments of the village of Luzanivka (Cherkasy Region, Ukraine). It occurred together with valves of 15 bivalve species including Crassatella personata Berezovsky, Crassatina woodi (Koenen), Miocardiopsis praelonga (Giebel), Tivelina deleta (Koenen), Pitar porrecta (Koenen), Circe edwardsi (Koenen), Barbatia rustica (Koenen), and Spondylus tenuispina Sandberger. These species are exclusively found in Upper Eocene sediments, thus indicating a Late Eocene age for sediments with C. lassa.
