On the Pseudosuchians Tsylmosuchus donensis and Scythosuchus basileus from the Early Triassic of Eastern Europe

Abstract

Based on the restudying of all materials on early archosaurs from the Early Triassic Donskaya Luka locality, the genus and species Scythosuchus basileus Sennikov, 1999 is considered as a junior synonym of Tsylmosuchus donensis Sennikov, 1990. A revised diagnosis of the genus Tsylmosuchus, which is provisionally attributed to the family Ctenosauriscidae, is given. Tsylmosuchus was lightly built and capable of fast locomotion. The position of its limbs was probably already partially parasagittal.
