Abstract

A new spiriferid brachiopod species, Cyrtospirifer vjacheslavi, from the Middle Frasnian of the East European Platform is described. These spiriferide shells from the Middle Frasnian of central European Russia and Middle Timan assigned traditionally to Cyrtospirifer disjunctus for more then a century are not conspecific to British species and are here reassigned to Cyrtospirifer vjacheslavi sp. nov.
