Abstract
Two Zn(II) and Cu(II) complexes formulated as Zn(DMS)(bix)0.5 (1) and Cu(DMS)(bix)0.5 (2) (DMS = 2,2-dimethylsuccinate; bix = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene) are successfully prepared under hydrothermal conditions. The single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis shows that both complexes are isostructural, have the P2/c space group and a 2D layer architecture with the DMS bisbridged ribbon. The title complexes are characterized by single crystal XRD, IR spectroscopy, TG and elemental analyses, and photoluminescence sensing in the solid state. In addition, the sensing efficiency of nitrobenzene for 1 is evaluated.
