CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE NORFLUOROCURARINE QUATERNIZATION PRODUCTS

Abstract

Methyl iodide, bromoethylene bromide monohydrate, and hydroxymethylene-, chloromethylene bromide hemihydrate are obtained as quaternary salts by quaternization of the indole alkaloid norfluorocurarine, and their crystal structures are investigated. In the studied quaternary salts, there is an intramolecular hydrogen bond of the N–H…O=C type. In an acidic medium, a salt of the norfluorocurarine quaternization product crystallizes as a cocrystal consisting of hydroxymethylene bromide and chloromethylene bromide.
