SYNTHESIS, CRYSTAL STRUCTURE, AND ANTICANCER ACTIVITY AGAINST THE HeLa CELL LINE OF A NOVEL Co(II) COMPLEX WITH 4,5-BIS(PYRAZOL-1-YL) PHTHALIC ACID

Abstract

A new complex Co(L)2·2H2O [L = 4,5-bis(pyrazol-1-yl)phthalic acid] is synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and elemental analysis. The complex is H bonded to form a 1D chain structure. It can further stretched to a 2D layered structure through the π–π stacking interaction. The ability of the complex to interact with DNA is studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. Fluorescence demonstrates that the complex is able to bind DNA. Apoptosis studies show that the complex has a significant ability to induce apoptosis of tumor cells. Flow cytometry indicate that the complex exhibits a significant cancer cell inhibitory rate.
