Abstract

Reactions of [Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF)2] and [Sm\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF)2] (Cp* = η5-C5Me5) with polychalcogenide complexes of vanadium [(VMeCp)2(μ-S)(μ,η1:1-S2)(μ,η2:2-S2)], [(VMeCp)2(μ-Se)(μ,η1:1-Se2)(μ,η2:2-Se2)] (MeCp = C5H4Me), and [{V(nacnac)}2(μ-Te)2] ((nacnac) = (HC(C(Me)NC6H3i-Pr2)2)) are studied. Finally, three chalcogenide complexes of ytterbium and samarium are obtained ([(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\))(μ-S)(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF))]·2C7H8 (2C7H8), [(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\))(μ-Se)(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF))]0.6·[(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\))(μ,η1:2-Se2)(Yb\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF))]0.4·2C7H8 (2C7H8), [(Sm\(\text{Cp}_2^*\)(THF)) ×(μ-Te)]·C7H8 (C7H8)) and one polysulfide vanadium complex [(VMeCp)2(μ-S)2(μ,η1:1-S2)] (4). The structure of the complexes is determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction.
