Abstract—
We have studied the influence of high gamma doses and dose rates on the light output of bismuth orthogermanate (Bi4Ge3O12) crystals. The results demonstrate that the change in the light output of the Bi4Ge3O12 crystals at high gamma doses is due to the formation of color and trapping centers, which lead to degradation of the spectroscopic properties of the crystals.
