Gradient-structure titanium carbide filter for liquid and gas filtration

  • Published:
Inorganic Materials Aims and scope

Abstract

Gradient-pore-structure filters have been prepared via consolidation of titanium carbide powders, followed by heat treatment. The gradient structure allows one to improve the efficiency of high-temperature purification of aggressive media with the aim of removing submicron-sized dispersed contaminants, in comparison with an isotropic highly porous material. The advantages of such filters are not only the possibility of regeneration by heat treatment and rinsing with acids or other solvents but also the possibility of regeneration using a reverse liquid or gas flow.
