Optical and electrical properties of ZnSe films grown by hydrochemical deposition

  • Published:
Inorganic Materials Aims and scope

Abstract

Zinc selenide films have been produced by hydrochemical deposition through reaction between zinc oxide and selenium in the presence of hydrazine and sodium sulfite in an alkaline solution. Independent of deposition conditions, the films consist of sphalerite ZnSe and have a band gap in the range 2.6–2.7 eV. With increasing sodium sulfite concentration in solution, the average grain size increases to 0.75 μm (at Zn2+:SO 2−3 = 1: 10).
