Ordered TiO2 · nH2O-based films and coatings

Inorganic Materials Aims and scope

Abstract

Thin, ordered TiO2 · nH2O-based films ranging in thickness from tens of nanometers to several microns have been produced by a sol–gel process. Using multilayer deposition from concentrated sols, we have obtained thick coatings that ensure phase contrast with the substrate. Layer-by-layer application of a film-forming sol has been used to produce fiber-optic light delivery devices with a cylindrical irradiator for effective photodynamic therapy, hyperthermia, and laser-induced coagulation of internal organ tissues in the treatment of oncological and nononcological diseases.
