Abstract
The mass transport during the oxidation of Cr2O3 in mixtures of fine-particle TiO2 and Cr2O3 in air has been studied at temperatures from 800 to 1000°C by magnetochemical analysis. The results indicate that the process leads to the oxidation of up to ten surface atomic layers. The mass transport is shown to be a stochastic, steplike process.
