Abstract
Chemical inhomogeneities in the form of concentric zones enriched in aluminum and titanium have been revealed in cylindrical samples of a polycrystalline multicomponent high-temperature nickel alloy by electron probe microanalysis. Barothermal processing has been shown to accelerate aluminum and titanium diffusion in the alloy and to promote the accumulation of these elements in the surface layer of the sample. The final stage of the diffusion process is the formation of a surface layer enriched in Al and Ti, which enhances the corrosion stability of the alloy.
