Abstract

The formation of bromide ions in aqueous alcohol solutions of 6-bromo-1,2-naphthoquinone by the action of radiation has been studied. The radiation-chemical yields of bromide ions are 0.65 and 1.4 ion/100 eV at dose rates of 0.43 and 0.19 Gy/s, respectively. The rate constant of bromide ion elimination from semiquinone has been evaluated in the steady-state approximation.
