A Hydrodynamic Model of the “Jet” Phenomenon in Electrochemical Machining of Metals

Abstract

During the electrochemical machining of metals, cavitation appears in the interelectrode gap in places with a decreased static pressure. A two-dimensional problem associated with the determination of the shape of the surface being treated taking into account attached cavitation is solved within the “ideal process” model of electrochemical machining. A condition is applied that makes it possible to take into account the influence of the electric field on the hydrodynamics of the cavitating flow of an ideal incompressible liquid in the interelectrode gap.
