Abstract

A new oribatid mite species, Rhynchoribates parafabulosus sp. n., is described from Ecuador. This species is similar to R. fabulosus Beck 1961 (from Peru) in the rostrum structure and the length of prodorsal and notogastral setae. However, it clearly differs from the above species by the absence of thorns on the leg femora, location of adanal lyrifissures, and the structure of notogastral setae.
