Abstract

An ecological and faunistic review of 170 butterfly species from Daghestan based on original data is presented. The distribution and ecological characteristics of species (phenology, voltinism, biotopic distribution, population density and its dynamics, and the cycle of preimaginal stages) are described. The first part of the paper deals with the families Hesperiidae and Lycaenidae. Zoogeographic analysis and ecological characteristics of the regional fauna will be given in the second communication.
