Abstract

Illustrated descriptions of the new wolf-spider genus, Deliriosa gen. n. (Arachnida, Aranei, Lycosidae, Lycosinae, Trochosini, Trochosina) and the new species, Deliriosa karadagensis sp. n., from the Crimea (Ukraine) are presented. D. karadagensis sp. n. is characterized by the septum stalk merging with the bottom of epigyne groove not reaching its mid-length, and also by the unique epigyne length (more than 2.5 times as long as the septum width) and by the unique length of tegular apophysis of the bulbus (exceeding the width of the bulbus itself). Males and females of D. karadagensis sp. n. can be found in Submediterranean steppes and steppified areas in open woodlands of pistachio, downy oak, and Greek juniper in October and November. One female was found in July. D. karadagensis sp. n. was probably described earlier as Alopecosa chiragrica (Thorell, 1875) nomen dubium (sub Tarentula). However, the use of the name A. chiragrica is inappropriate because of inadequate original description and unreliability of spider species identification based on immature specimens.
