Abstract
The mass of sC1q-CLR (fragment of the fibrillar part of complement factor C1q) was determined using high- and low-speed analytical ultracentrifugation. The value obtained is essentially higher than the one expected from the amino acid and carbohydrate composition. In addition, these fragments have an unusually high partial specific volume. These data support the earlier model according to which the N-terminal segment of the fibrillar structure contains an abnormally large amount of bound water.
