Population dynamics: Limits of predictability

Abstract

Problems related to the complex pattern of ecosystem dynamics are discussed. Examples of studies on the complex population dynamics are considered, including those of plankton populations in a spatially heterogeneous environment and of an agroecosystem invaded by pests resistant to Bt toxins produced by genetically modified insecticidal crops.
