Abstract
The possibilities of enhancing the nonlinear optical response of a gaseous medium and the radiation conversion efficiency in four-wave mixing processes through the use of atomic coherence effects and the induced elimination of the Doppler broadening of resonances are investigated. Numerical illustrations of the effects are given for experiments in progress.
