Abstract

The solution to the Maxwell-Bloch equations describing interaction of two light pulses with a gas of magnetically trapped cold atoms is used to establish fair quantitative agreement between theory and experimental results reported in [5]. The spacetime dependence of the probe-and coupling-pulse fields and nonlinear dynamics of atoms are analyzed.
