Abstract

Fresnel’s formulas for the coefficients of light reflection from a metal surface are refined to take into account light absorption by conduction electrons during their reflection from the boundary of the metal. The estimates obtained show that the refinement may reveal itself in ellipsometric measurements if their errors do not exceed ∼0.5%.
