Abstract

An approach describing the influence of thermoelectric effects and boundary conditions on the thermal conductivity of heterogeneous systems is developed. At a certain configuration of a heterogeneous system, circulating electric currents appearing in the system are shown to influence markedly the effective thermal conductivity. The maximum growth of the thermal conductivity is to be expected in heterogeneous semiconductors and semimetal systems with opposed thermoelectromotive forces.
