On Internal strain-induced changes in massive bodies due to their own gravitational field

Abstract

The behavior of the deformation vector u in massive structures under the action of their own gravitational field is analyzed. The variation of the radial component of u with physical properties of a massive body is demonstrated with the Earth. A set of differential equations is derived based on variational calculus methods.
