Abstract
The dependence of the ultracold neutron capture cross section in targets with a thickness smaller than the neutron wavelength is calculated in the time-dependent quantum theory. It is shown that, for low velocities of neutrons, their capture cross section σc∼v, i.e., tends to zero as the neutron velocity v tends to zero.
