Abstract
A study is made of some characteristic features of ion cyclotron resonance (ICR) heating in plasma-based isotope separators. The effects associated with ion drift in the RF field of a solenoidal antenna are considered in the single-particle approximation. Estimates are obtained and numerical calculations are carried out for ICR heating in the case of a “narrow” (ρ/r ∼ 1, where ρ is the ion gyroradius) plasma flow.
