Abstract

Results are presented of a numerical simulation of turbulent flows around pointed circular supersonic cones at angles of attack α≥3θc, where θc is the cone half-angle. The problem is solved in the framework of a locally conical approximation of a set of Reynolds’ equations written in terms of mass-averaged quantities with the use of a differential one-parametric turbulence model. The numerical solutions are obtained with the help of an implicit finite-difference unidirectional scheme, with the focus on violation of the symmetry and stationarity of the separated cross flow.
