Abstract
Effects of the four-wave processes on the dynamics of the charged boundary of a conducting liquid are compared for the cases of plane and square symmetry of the problem. Considering a slit liquid-metal electrode, whose special feature is a possible degeneration of the nonlinear three-wave interaction, we propose a model of the initial stage in the formation of a periodic system of cusps on its surface.
