Emission lines of the red-dwarf flare star EV Lac: Stellar flares

Astronomy Reports Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

We present equivalent widths and profiles for Hα Hβ, Hγ and He I λ4471 Å emission lines obtained in observations of the flares of EV Lac made at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory in 1994 and 1995. Our semi-empirical modeling of the flares gives insight into the structure of the emitting regions, including a temperature plateau, and also into the physical parameters, size, and location of the star’s relatively quiescent chromosphere.
