Spatial rectification of fields of photorefractive waves

Abstract

A theory of rectifying electric fields associated with photorefractive waves is presented. The rectification effect is caused by scattering of photorefractive waves from the static grating of a space charge, which is formed as a result of excitation of photorefractive waves due to an interference pattern oscillating about its equilibrium position. The theory predicts high values of rectified fields (of the order of 100 V cm−1) and agrees well with the available experimental data.
