Abstract
Experimental plasma parameters in an electric-discharge galathea multipole trap operating in a barrier mode (“discharge with mantle”) at a magnetic field strength below 20 Oe are reported. The local plasma parameters exhibit saturation with increasing cathode emission current. The plasma energy lifetime τ E and the “ barrier” coefficient β are estimated.
