Abstract
The effect of an ion-beam deposited carbon coating on a tungsten tip on field emission of electrons has been studied. The analysis of the current-voltage characteristics showed a considerable enhancement of the emission current caused by a decrease in the working function and higher stability of emission from the tip coated with a thin carbon film.
