Abstract

A study is made of electron diffraction by an optical fiber, which plays the role of the electrode of a Fresnel-Mollenstedt biprism. Irradiation of the electrode with the radiation from a lowpower laser causes a change in the diffraction pattern. A tentative explanation for this effect is proposed.
