Abstract
A combined analysis is made of the low-energy total current and secondary electron emission spectra at the initial stage of formation of a silver coating on a W(110) surface. It is shown that the features observed in the spectra are related to the energy structure of the density of empty states lying above the vacuum level. The dynamics of changes in these features in the total current spectra as the film thickness increases indicates that at the initial stage the silver coating is characterized by the Ag(111) orientation, but as the thickness increases, the Ag(110) orientation predominates.
