Abstract
A new injector for the continuous formation of an unlimited supply of fuel pellets and their injection into the plasma of fusion reactors is described. A solid hydrogen rod of length in excess of 50 m has been extruded at an average rate of 20 mm/s, and more than a thousand pellets of diameter 2 mm have been formed from it in continuous operation at frequencies of 1 Hz and 2 Hz and have been accelerated to 0.6–0.8 km/s.
