Abstract

An anomaly of the temperature dependence of the cross section for chemical ionization of HBr molecules by metastable helium atoms He*(23 S 1) is discovered. It is shown that the interaction anisotropy induced by rotation of the HBr molecule has a significant influence on the formation of the anomaly.
