Physico-Chemical Characterization of Two Epoxy Systems Using Porphyrins as Curing Agents

Abstract

Chlorophyllin and meso-tetra(4-carboxifenyl)porphyrin have been used as crosslinking agents for curing the epoxy resin of bisphenol A diglycidyl ether. Monitoring reaction by DSC revealed two peaks on calorimetric scans show. FTIR corroborates that the first signal corresponds to an esterification reaction while the second one is due to an etherification one. Thermodegradation temperatures show that the signals obtained by calorimetry do not correspond to decomposition processes.
