The impact of Buzuluk pine stand on the surrounding landscapes and soil properties

Abstract

The impact of Buzuluk pine stand on the soil formation and soil properties within the surrounding territory has been studied. It is shown that this pine stand located in the typical steppe within the subzone of ordinary chernozems creates a specific forest-controlled mesoclimate and affects the soil forming conditions on the surrounding territories. As a result, areas of typical chernozems have formed around the stand; the width of this zone extends up to 20 km. Thus, a local ecologically driven inversion of soil zones is developed in the study area: forest-steppe landscapes with typical chernozems border the zone of dry steppes with southern chernozems.
