Electron-stimulated desorption of the surface of mechanically modified silver-iodide particles

Abstract

The interaction of electrons with the surface of AgI particles resulting from the exchange reaction of aqueous solutions of AgNO3 and KI is studied. The AgI powder is modified in a VIBRATOR GM-945B vibratory ball mill. The change in the surface topography of the AgI particles revealed by scanning electron microscopy is attributed to the desorption of atoms or ions from the surface of silver iodide under the action of an electron beam.
