Lowering of ionization potentials in a nonideal plasma

Abstract

Analytical expressions are obtained for the ionization potentials of neutral atoms and ions in the screened Coulomb potential of a nonideal plasma. Among all the chemical elements considered, cesium exhibits the greatest relative lowering of the ionization potentials in comparison with the case of an unscreened interaction.
