A-optimal Designs for Treatment-Control Comparisons in Microarray Experiments with Random Block Effects

Designs for two colour microarrays can be considered as block designs with block size two. The paper considers a model where the block effects are random and determines a lower bound for the A-criterion of any design for the comparison of v treatments with a control. Only in rare cases there will be a design which attains the bound, but it can be used to calculate the efficiency of good designs.
