Root rot of grapevine rootlings in South Australia caused by Rhizoctonia solani

Abstract

Root rot and dieback of grapevine rootlings in a field nursery were associated with Rhizoctonia solani. Pathogenicity to cv. Ramsey rootlings was confirmed in the glasshouse. Root weights but not shoot weights were reduced by the pathogen. Root weights of cw. Ramsey and Sultana were higher than those of untreated, inoculated vines 8 weeks after a single drench with quintozene but not tolclofos-methyl.
