Abstract
Chemical analysis of leaf tissue of Monstera deliciosa with pronounced dark brown dots and dashes on the veins of the adaxial surface showed zinc concentrations five times higher than in tissues from unaffected plants, and zinc analysis of soil from near the affected plants showed very high levels of available zinc. It is proposed that the symptoms are caused by zinc toxicity.
