Abstract

Pratylenchus penetrans was extracted from the roots of 30 herbaceous ornamental species grown in a field at Keysborough, Victoria. Population densities of rootborne P. Penetrans were arbitrarily divided into three groups and used as an indication of the host status of each plant species. Rotylenchus robustus also occurred in the field, but was identified at densities greater than 260 nematodesl250 ml soil only from soil around the roots of three of the 30 plant species.
